MY ROLE
I sourced the base automotive chassis, hard-surface modeled the critical inverter-system components, built the garage environment, and developed the final visualization. I also designed and built the procedural rigging and animation system used to bring the components and cable network to life.
THE CHALLENGE
The animation required four inverter components to move vertically into position on the EV chassis while their cables remained dynamically connected. As each component moved and scaled, the plugs and cables needed to adjust with it—maintaining consistent proportions and connections throughout the animation.
Rather than manually rebuilding or adjusting the cable geometry for each configuration, the challenge was to develop a procedural system that could handle those changes automatically.
THE SOLUTION — Xpresso + Procedural Cable Rigging
Using Cinema 4D and Xpresso, I developed a procedural rig that linked each cable and plug to its corresponding inverter component. The system allowed the components to move and scale while the connected cable assemblies adjusted automatically, maintaining their proportions and attachment points throughout the animation. Hat tip to “Noseman” for teaching me how to create this rigging system!!
IN THE WILD
Beyond the animation, rendered imagery from this project has taken on a life of its own, appearing across Texas Instruments marketing materials, LinkedIn campaigns, and print advertising in Hanser automotive publications.
Publication Mockup Project imagery was used in advertising appearing in Hanser automotive publications. This mockup demonstrates the artwork in its print context.
Final EV inverter system visualization created for Texas Instruments. I hard-surface modeled the critical inverter components, developed the rigged cable system, and built the garage environment for use across animation and advertising.
Texas Instruments LinkedIn Campaign My EV visualization imagery was used in a Texas Instruments social campaign highlighting its automotive technology.
3D-to-2D Advertising Integration I integrated the completed 3D EV chassis into an existing 2D photograph for web advertising, matching camera perspective, lighting, shadows, and color to create a cohesive final image.
